Pioneers of Hops IGN Quality Hops

IGN is an association of hop growers in the Hallertau.

Several decades ago, farmers in the Hallertau were displeased with the unsatisfactory situation in the hop market. For this reason, 18 hop growers from Niederlauterbach finally decided to do something about it, and in 1987, they founded IGN*. They were able to set and maintain their own much higher quality standards for hops.

To date, more than 100 hop-growing families have joined IGN with one goal in mind: To produce the best quality hops for our breweries and to strengthen the viability of our hop farms into future.

What Defines Us

In the past as well as today, we are pioneers – creating a sustainable, responsible, and fair hop trade in the Hallertau.

The Six Pillars of IGN

We take our destiny by the reins Since 1987, we have been setting the highest standard for hop quality

March 11, 1987 – 18 hop growers from Niederlauterbach in the Hallertau decided to do something about the constant deterioration in prices and the continuing decline in hop quality as well as the growing imbalance in the hop market. These were the conditions that prompted the founding of IGN.
And much has happened since then.

Responsible Sustainability

»A fair future for our grandchildren« – a hop industry from which future generations can earn a living as well. This is important to us.

Future-proof Innovation

We promote innovations that are accessible to everyone and thus do not lead to dependencies, monopolies or unfair relationships.
